Raises & promotions: Departments give student employees raises and promotions based on evaluations, internal department policy and fund availability, both at the department level and per salary pool approvals made by the University Board of Regents. Employers should let student employees know what they're eligible for by listing any planned rate increases and explaining the department’s requirements to get a raise and/or promotion.
Student Job Classifications
Below are our student job classifications, working titles and pay ranges (effective July 1, 2024).
Using Midpoints in Salary Ranges: We recommend that you start a new hire between the minimum and the midpoint in the appropriate job code. This will leave enough room in the pay range for merit and longevity increases in the case than an employee continues to do the same job function over time. They do not need to be moved to a new job code simply to receive a pay raise.
